Robert “Bobby” Kegel
Full-Stack Web Developer
Bio
Robert Kegel is a Lead Full-Stack Web Developer based on Long Island, NY, recognized for bridging creative vision with technical precision. With over a decade of experience spanning web engineering, analytics, and digital strategy, and finance, he brings a rare balance of hands-on development expertise and strategic thinking to every project he leads.
Bobby’s introduction to programming began early—experimenting with QBasic and HTML on his family’s Gateway 2000 PC in the 1990s. What started as curiosity became a lifelong pursuit of building things that work beautifully. After earning a degree in Accounting and spending thirteen years in banking, he pivoted toward his true passion: software development. That transition, guided by both self-study and mentorship, combined the analytical mindset of finance with the creative problem-solving of technology.
Today, Bobby serves as a Lead Full-Stack Developer at We Are Volume (WAV), where he architects and maintains web experiences for a diverse portfolio of clients across healthcare, finance, and consumer brands. His expertise includes modern frameworks like React, Next.js, Vue, Nuxt, and the established power of WordPress, Shopify, and HubSpot. He designs maintainable systems that scale—implementing CI/CD pipelines and ensuring deployments align seamlessly with design intent and business objectives, using tools like Docker, GitHub Actions, and DigitalOcean.
Bobby is known for his ability to translate complex requirements into clear, actionable development plans. He approaches each project as a craftsman, applying the principles of Clean Code to create software that is easy to read, easy to maintain, and built for longevity. His colleagues rely on him for accurate time estimates, architectural guidance, and pragmatic collaboration. He often says, “You can’t make a baby in one month by getting nine women pregnant,” reflecting his understanding that quality takes time—and good planning is everything.
Outside of client work, Bobby’s curiosity drives him to explore how emerging technologies reshape the world. He experiments with AI, IoT, and Raspberry Pi systems, blending digital engineering with real-world sustainability. His side projects include concepts for automated, AI-assisted gardens that monitor and optimize plant health—a reflection of his interest in how technology can improve life on Earth while preparing humanity for challenges beyond it.
He also writes regularly on topics that connect technology, design, and discovery. His blog invites readers into his process: what he’s learning, what went wrong, and what insight emerged along the way. Whether discussing web performance, AI ethics, or small-scale automation, his goal is to share knowledge with clarity and humor—helping others learn faster and build better.
Bobby’s philosophy is simple: great technology should serve curiosity. He sees each project as part of a larger system—where design, data, and user experience converge to tell a coherent story. As the web continues to evolve with AI and automation, his focus remains on the human side of code: building tools and platforms that make understanding, creativity, and growth accessible to everyone.
